Position Overview:
Under the general guidance of the Manager, Talent Acquisition & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the Major Recruitment Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing the Major Recruitments section for the enterprise. Provides leadership, guidance and direction to staff engaged in delivering specialized talent acquisition services aimed at achieving the enterprise's talent acquisition goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing major recruitments (e.g., Powerline Technician, Power Electrician, Mechanical Technician, Protection & Telecontrol, Pre-placement Programs, Customer Engagement Centre, Operator Driver, Natural Gas Service Person, Professional Trainee Programs (e.g. Engineer in Training program, Summer Student Program etc.).
- Provide strategic advice and consultation to Line Management and Human Resources staff with respect to major recruitments.
- Lead continuous improvement within the section and liaise with key resources throughout the enterprise as required.
- Oversee the development of strategic advertising and candidate sourcing options.
- Oversee the selection and staffing of career events to optimize visibility of Manitoba Hydro career opportunities.
- Work with Professional Trainee Program leads in line areas to provide leadership on all matters relating to the programs, including trainee development and human resource advice.
- Work with the Safety, Health & Trades Training team to provide consultation and collaboration on all matters relating to Trades Recruitments.
- Provide leadership to a multi-functional team.
- Lead or participate on cross-functional teams associated with initiatives pertaining to talent acquisition.
Qualifications:
- Four-year Business Degree (HR Major or other relevant degree) from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of five years of related experience, two of which are in a leadership capacity;
OR - Two-year Business Diploma (HR Major or other relevant diploma) from an institute of recognized standing plus a minimum of seven years' directly related experience, three of which are in a leadership capacity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff throughout the enterprise, as well as with external organizations.
- Strategic thinker who ensures that priorities align with Enterprise strategic goals and stakeholder and customer needs.
- Adaptable and flexible in responding to changes in the environment and business requirements.
- Strong written communication skills with experience writing reports and recommendations.
- In depth knowledge of current Manitoba Hydro HR policies and Collective Agreements, and thorough understanding of Province of Manitoba Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, organize and schedule work and provide leadership, development and training to staff.
- Possess and maintain valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $48.74-$67.29 Hourly, $93,398.24-$128,947.78 Annually.
